Las MHW pueden afectar tanto a la superficie como a niveles oce\u00e1nicos m\u00e1s profundos y se registran en todos los oc\u00e9anos del planeta. En las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas, y en asociaci\u00f3n con el calentamiento de la temperatura superficial del mar (SST), su magnitud y frecuencia han aumentado, generando impactos perjudiciales sobre los ecosistemas, las industrias marinas y las actividades humanas.<\/p><p data-start=\"554\" data-end=\"911\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">El <strong data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"577\">mar Mediterr\u00e1neo<\/strong> es una de las regiones m\u00e1s afectadas por las MHW, ya que ha experimentado un calentamiento significativo de sus aguas en las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas.
